This paper highlights how Nicaraguan rural families mobilize spatial and migratory resources when involved in multi-scale mobility process. These resources are created and nourished by the dispersion of the workforce and the multi-location of the family economy. They are a core feature of the organization of “mobile worlds” and transnational spaces. The article discusses families’ ability to articulate different temporalities and trajectories to manage the spatial resources related to their mobility. Three types of family configurations are presented through the morphology of dispersion, pluri-activity and expansion of family economies. The selected examples underline the management of presence and absence, mechanisms of the reversibility of migration and the articulation of individual trajectories within an entity or an institution which continues to play a key role: the rural family.
