In France, as in the rest of the world, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to a head the racist discourses and acts against Chinese and more widely Asian populations. Based on the verbatims of the interviewees (N=106), as inscribed in their biographies and situated in the temporality of the pandemic, this article shows the variety and evolution of postures towards anti-Asian racism among Chinese people in France. First, we study the posture of denial, present in particular among newcomers. Then, we examine the plurality of registers of (d)enunciation of racism on the part of newcomers and descendants. Finally, we analyze the logics of politicization and collective action, highlighting the catalytic role played by the Covid-19 pandemic in the increased awareness of racism.
