The first aim of this article is to understand how the preschool teacher’s posture can promote the link between families and institutions in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The second aim is to value the knowledge developed by female teachers in preschools. First, the diffusion of preschooling as well as the diversity of expectations expressed towards the school in the particular context of South India are studied. Second, the article focuses on preschool teachers, their link with families and the construction of their professional practices.
