This article proposes an analysis of the precariousness of work in Chile, a context recognized for the consolidation of the neoliberal transformations. The main idea is that the level of precariousness of work in the country as well as its invisibility as an object of collective criticism, is the result of a radical disarmament of the normative senses associated with the idea of work. The article is organized in three parts, the first and the second ones are consecrated to the analysis of the two stages of the normative disarmament of the idea of work. The third part presents a contemporary portrait of the precarious work in this national context.
