The coordination team of this issue asked anthropologist Sylvie Bredeloup to provide insights on return migration based on her expertise and ethnographic practice, especially in West Africa. Among the various issues addressed, Bredeloup insists on the predominance of spontaneous returns, outside of institutional programmes, as well as on the importance of deconstructing preconceived ideas about return.
