This article shows that linguistic competencies are unequally distributed in today’s Russia. The probability of becoming internationally mobile then varies for Russian students. Equally, it is not with the same time constraints, nor with the same legitimacy that they are considering a study trip abroad. These variations are linked to the disparate socio-economic and cultural resources of their families.
