This article explores the way wedding ceremonies occur in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Based on an ethnographic fieldwork, it analyses how the romantic styles of these celebrations illustrate the definitions of love and traditional marriage in this context. These terms question the relationship between marriage and love feelings. They paint a picture of both etic and emic point of views, in which issues of modernity and globalization of matrimonial practices are put to the test.
