Abstract

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), since the last constitutional term of President Joseph Kabila since 2001, the Web has been a space of political confrontation through religious discourses, or by interposing religious leaders. While President Kabila has finished his last constitutional mandate, religious discourses on the Internet have become a mobilization tool, so that it makes it possible to distinguish the partisans of the alternation or the maintenance of the government in place. Digital media has demonstrated its ability to mobilize the street during demonstrations against President Joseph Kabila’s tenure in office between 2015 and 2017. Web-based religious discourses can play a role in mitigating protest.
