Epistemological holism, or Duhem-Quine thesis, supports that we can’t separately test a scientific hypothesis, but only sets of hypothesis. Therefore, in case of a test failure, we can only conclude that at least one hypothesis from a set is falsified, but we can’t determine which one. While this thesis is common to Duhem and Quine, we regularly overlook differences between their analysis, whereas they do not relay on the same arguments, and they reach to conclusions that contradict each other about essential matters. I propose in this paper to expose Duhem’s holism, and to compare it to Quine’s holism. I mainly intend to show that Duhem’s holism does not prevent scientific hypothesis’ falsifiability.
