In the current context of datafication and the reuse of data, data management, which is often entrusted to scientific and technical information (STI) professionals, requires both mediation and technical knowledge specific to the info-communication systems used. However, focusing on the raw nature of the data to be disseminated does not establish this mediation as knowledge mediation. The issue of data fairness takes precedence over the presupposed sharing of knowledge. But between raw data and processed data, what knowledge is circulating? What support is put in place behind this "invisible data work"? How can we ensure that this data retains meaning through the process of decontextualisation/recontextualisation that it undergoes? From a theoretical point of view, we will draw on the framework of mediation in Information and Communication Sciences and on the material dimension of knowledge to understand this work of documentation or storytelling.
We will present the results of an exploratory survey conducted among IST professionals in higher agricultural education in terms of knowledge mediation, and will then focus on the drafting of a PGD. Our results will outline a number of procedural, social and reflexive forms of this mediation.
