In a context marked by a desire on the part of the State and its institutions to strengthen citizen involvement in public life, the public communicator is emerging as a crucial player in the deployment of participatory mechanisms. The aim of this article is to examine how the role of the public communicator operating within institutions is being enriched, and how it interacts with the role of the public communicator operating outside these institutions, embodied by the consultants-technicians. To this end, we study the issues of promotion, collaboration and training that structure the profession of public communicator in the mobilization of new participatory tools.
