Since 2019, teachers of the Technological University Institutes have to design and implement a new diploma, the Bachelor Universitaire de Technologie (BUT) structured around the competency-based approach (APC). The aim is to organize training to make the students develop their skills in acting, in articulation with the teachings, when immersed in Learning and Evaluation Situations (SAE). The production of "marks" illustrates the different stages of these situations. This “marks” find its place and coherence in the portfolio approach. These new pedagogical practices are mainly based on reflective processes that should allow students to gradually become actors of their training. Through the study of the "traces" (writings) produced in two SAEs belonging to different specialties, this article aims at identifying the determinants of this process and its stakes for learners in initial training.
