This article contains a study on drunkenness in the texts from Ugarit, a coastal town in Northwest Syria. After an introduction on beer and wine in Ugarit, we will focus on the various Ancient Near Eastern expressions belonging to the semantic field of « drunkenness », and on the two Ugaritic texts that give us more information on drunkenness in Ugarit and how the Ugaritic society dealt with this issue.
