Abstract

If there is no champion, hero or star without a narrative or staging device, it is clear that these narratives and features have long been neglected by research. Research dedicated to these issues has multiplied over the past twenty years. Before presenting the specific contributions of the issue, the article presents, very briefly, the major principles of analysis that have long prevailed in the studies on sports celebrities. It also points to the knowledge that is still lacking in analyses and that is due to the work of feeding-commentary and relaying social networks, in which recipients and algorithms are active, and whose roles are both essential and largely unknown.
