Focus and Scope

The "Revue Quetelet/Quetelet Journal" (RQJ) is a bilingual thematic journal (English and French) of the Centre for Demographic Research of Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), in Belgium. RQJ accepts original contributions that follow the usual format of empirical papers but also papers that have unusual formats: theoretical literature review, methodological papers, "data papers", advocacy for heterodox or controversial ideas, negative results, replication of previously published results, descriptive results on new data, unusual datasets, mixed-methods, etc.

To submit your work, you will first need to register (as "author"). The Quetelet Journal has no author-side article processing charge or submission-related charge.

During the reviewing process, the emphasis will be on the scientific rigour and not on the (positive, negative, or null) direction of results found by the authors, in the spirit of “Blind-result review”.

Replicable research

We encourage the authors to make their dataset and codes available through a public repository (e.g. https://www.openicpsr.org/openicpsr/). The dataset if not exceeding 1GB, and the codes, can be shared through supplementary files to the article on the journal website (with the same copyright specification as for the main paper).

Peer Review Process

Submissions are subject to a standard review process. Any submitted article is transmitted anonymously (double-blind review) to at least two reviewers, one of whom is a member of the Editorial Team. The publication must be approved by all co-authors.

During the review process, authors should not withdraw their article or submit it to another outlet. The journal will not publish an article that has already been published elsewhere or is currently under consideration by another journal.

Submissions must take the form of regular articles.
