Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or PDF and the authors' identities are kept hidden from reviewers to ensure a double-blind review (in the main text).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Institutions and e-mails have been provided for all authors in a separate file (Title page).
  • A data availability statement is available, indicating in the comments to the editors if the data and codes will be made available through a public repository or as supplementary files to the main paper.

Author Guidelines

Articles must not exceed 40,000 characters (including spaces), including abstracts, footnotes and references. Illustrations (tables, graphs, maps) should not exceed a third of manuscript.

The manuscript, in French or English, must be submitted in Word format, with the tables, maps and figures in the correct place in the body of the text. In addition, once the paper is accepted, the figures and maps must also be sent in a separate file with the numerical series (in Excel) used to build them. Authors should ensure that legends and titles are clearly indicated. Footnotes are numbered sequentially and do not include tables or graphs.

Each text must be accompanied by an abstract in English and French, each containing a maximum of 1,200 characters, as well as keywords in both languages.

The bibliographic references are arranged at the end of the article, in alphabetical order of authors, for each author in chronological order, and called in the text in the form (Eggerickx, 2010), (Bocquier et al., 2008; Rizzi and Gourbin, 2012).

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Submissions are systematically checked for plagiarism through editorial assessment and peer reviewers’ comments.

The Quetelet Journal has no author-side article processing charge or submission-related charge.
