Liminaire à la part dessinée de l’architecture

Résumé

Ce texte vise à réaffirmer la pratique du dessin au cœur de la discipline de l’architecture. Le dessin, comme acte de projetation, explore la part invisible, indescriptible et indicible de ce qu’est l’architecture, fondamentalement. Ses gestes balaient le spectre du projet de la trace fragile, initiale, sur le fond, mis ainsi au jour, jusqu’à l’établissement de ses mesures et ses géométries. Dessiner c’est déjà habiter. Mais le spectre se restreint dramatiquement. Il s’agit ici d’ancrer une approche critique persistante au fil du projet. Ce texte se repose sur un corpus de dessins remarquables réalisés ces 24 dernières années par les étudiants de BAC1 et BAC2 de LOCI Louvain-la-Neuve que je remercie. Ils se reconnaîtront. Ils ont dessiné avant d’avoir reconnu ce qui émergeait.

This text aims to reaffirm the practice of drawing at the heart of the discipline of architecture. Drawing, as an act of projection, explores the invisible, indescribable, and unspeakable part of what architecture fundamentally is. Its gestures sweep away the spectrum of the project, from the fragile, initial trace on the background, thus brought to light, to the establishment of its measurements and geometries. To draw is already to inhabit. But the spectrum is dramatically restricted. The aim here is to anchor a persistent critical approach throughout the project. This text is based on a corpus of remarkable drawings produced over the past 24 years by the BAC1 and BAC2 students of LOCI Louvain-la-Neuve, whom I thank. They will recognize themselves. They drew before recognizing what was emerging.
