Étude méthodologique "d’ethnographie architecturale" sur les camps et bidonvilles de Sabra et Shatila

Distingué d’une mention au Prix Van Hove 2023, le travail de fin d’études de Laura Ghabris intitulé Entre camp et bidonville : la pérennisation informelle comme processus majeur de la survie d’une population déplacée à Sabra et Shatila explore des lieux peu documentés tels que le bidonville de Sabra et le camp de réfugiés de Shatila à Beyrouth¹. Cet article examine l’approche méthodologique du TFE. Via des outils tels que le dessin et les entretiens, cette méthodologie allant de la recherche à la conception du projet, révèle la diversité sociale, culturelle et architecturale de ces lieux informels, mais aussi leurs défis. L'article souligne l'importance, en tant qu’architecte, de repenser le rapport aux contextes informels grâce à une approche collaborative adaptée aux besoins des communautés. 

Abstract. Laura Ghabris' dissertation entitled Between Camp and Shantytown: Informal Perpetuation as a Major Process in the Survival of a Displaced Population in Sabra and Shatila, which was awarded a mention in the 2023 Van Hove Prize, explores little-documented sites such as the Sabra shantytown and the Shatila refugee camp in Beirut. This article examines the TFE's methodological approach. Using tools such as drawing and interviews, this methodology, which ranges from research to design, reveals the social, cultural and architectural diversity of these informal places, as well as their challenges. The article highlights the importance, as architects, of rethinking the relationship with informal contexts through a collaborative approach adapted to the needs of communities.
